In alignment with national efforts to navigate the ongoing energy crisis in South Korea, Amorepacific has rolled out an extensive energy conservation campaign effective from September 9, 2023.
This initiative involves a vehicle usage restriction policy, recommending a five-day driving ban based on the last digit of vehicle license plates for employees commuting in company cars or personal vehicles.
Notably, exemptions apply for electric and hydrogen vehicles, as well as cars carrying disabled individuals, pregnant women, or preschool children.
Amorepacific's headquarters along with its subsidiaries will also recalibrate energy consumption metrics, adjusting the cooling temperature settings upwards and the heating temperature downwards in compliance with government guidelines.
Additionally, the operational hours for lighting in office and common areas will be minimized, and hot water supply in facilities, such as sinks, will be temporarily suspended during the summer months.
The company is also strengthening travel management protocols by limiting international trips to essential and urgent matters, while expanding the usage of teleconferencing to limit travel necessity.
Domestic travels will similarly see a reduction, with in-person training sessions and meetings minimized.
In cases where travel is unavoidable, Amorepacific mandates that they involve the fewest number of participants and are conducted over the shortest possible duration to mitigate energy expenditure.
Furthermore, Amorepacific encourages voluntary participation from employees in energy-saving activities, promoting initiatives such as reducing food waste, minimizing disposable product usage, and advocating the use of personal tumblers.
These grassroots efforts aim to integrate sustainability into everyday practices within the organization.
As a forward-thinking corporation, Amorepacific is committed to progressively expanding diverse strategies to enhance energy efficiency while actively aligning with the government’s energy conservation policies.
This holistic approach not only addresses immediate energy challenges but also positions the company as a leader in corporate sustainability, which may enhance its attractiveness to global investors and consumers increasingly focused on environmental responsibility.
