In light of the heightened geopolitical tensions stemming from the U.
S.-Iran conflict, LG Household & Health Care has taken decisive action to bolster its resilience and support collaboration with its vendors.
As part of this initiative, the company has committed to a quick adjustment of supply prices to foster mutual growth and stabilize supply chains.
On October 14, an executive meeting was held at the LG Seoul Station Building in Jung-gu, Seoul, featuring significant figures such as Han Seung-sook, Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises and Startups, Sun-Joo Lee, CEO of LG Household & Health Care, and representatives from partner companies.
The focus of the discussion was the implementation of a supply price linkage system designed to address the rising costs of raw materials that have considerably affected operational margins.
To date, the company has raised the supply prices for 59 existing contracts with 15 partner companies by a cumulative value of 2.56 billion Korean won (approximately $2.1 million USD).
Starting this month, LG Household & Health Care is set to review additional supply price increases across 47 partners totaling more than 16,000 contracts.
Predicted total adjustments for the year may reach up to 20 billion Korean won (around $15.8 million USD).
Minister Han praised the collaborative efforts, stating, "The value of mutual growth illustrated by LG Household & Health Care strengthens our economy's capacity for recovery during times of crisis.
I extend my gratitude to the employees of LG Household & Health Care who are actively working with partner firms to overcome these challenges. "
CEO Sun-Joo Lee emphasized the importance of reliable supply chains, noting, "Despite the challenging circumstances, our partners have reliably delivered materials, enabling LG Household & Health Care to provide products consistently to our customers.
We will diligently explore diverse collaborative growth strategies, including the supply price linkage system, to establish a culture of mutual benefit and fair trade. "
The supply price linkage system serves as a regulatory mechanism that adjusts supply prices in accordance with raw material price fluctuations, thereby alleviating cost burdens for partner companies.
After participating in this program in 2023, LG Household & Health Care has been recognized as an exemplary company for two consecutive years.
Furthermore, it holds the distinction of receiving the highest rating nine times in the collaborative growth index administered by the Collaborative Growth Committee.
Such strategic initiatives not only reinforce the company's market position but also signal to global investors and buyers that LG Household & Health Care prioritizes sustainable business practices and long-term partnerships.
By enhancing the adaptability of its supply chain and fostering robust vendor relations, the company is poised to navigate the complexities of international trade dynamics caused by geopolitical tensions.
