On April 17, 2023, the Korea Medical Pedicure Association (KMPA), led by President Choi Kyung, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Seojung University, headed by President Yang Young-hee.

This agreement aims to enhance the medical foot care industry and promote vocational education by establishing a solid academic-industry partnership.

The collaboration comes at a critical juncture where the local and international demand for skilled professionals in problematic foot care and medical pedicure fields has surged.

The MOU is designed to systematically nurture talent equipped with both practical skills and field-oriented education to meet this growing need.

As part of this alliance, the two institutions will engage in various initiatives including: 1. Industry-commissioned education programs, 2. On-site training and internships, 3.

Joint research and technology development, 4. Support for solving technical issues on-site and transferring technologies, 5. Career counseling and entrepreneurship support, 6.

Global talent development, 7. Operation of community contribution programs.

This multifaceted approach signifies a commitment that transcends mere educational collaboration, aiming to produce graduates with tangible competencies that will not only bolster the industry but also contribute to the institutional framework of the medical foot care sector.

Choi Kyung emphasized, “This MOU marks a pivotal moment in enhancing the professionalism and credibility of the medical pedicure industry.

We will develop advanced educational content based on accumulated clinical cases and technical data, promoting practical education and research to cultivate industry-leading professionals and standardize educational practices.”

Faculty members from the Beauty Arts Department at Seojung University, Professor Jo Ah-rang and Professor Seo Jeong-sook, stated, “This partnership is a strategic step towards cultivating specialized talent and standardizing the industry.

By merging medical and beauty disciplines, we aim to open up new horizons in the medical foot care field, offering students broader career opportunities.”

The MOU will take effect from the signing date and remain valid for three years, barring any intent to terminate it.

During this period, both institutions are committed to enhancing the competitiveness of Korea's medical foot care industry through joint research and educational programs, with the goal of establishing educational and technical standards that can withstand the global market.

The Korea Medical Pedicure Association comprises medical professionals, healthcare workers, and aspiring healthcare practitioners, working collaboratively with hospitals nationwide to lead the convergence of medical and beauty sectors.

Through clinical-based education, technological research, and academic initiatives, KMPA is recognized as a key player in the standardization of the industry and the establishment of a specialized workforce.

This agreement is poised to elevate the professionalism and credibility of the medical foot care industry, while closely linking education and industry, presenting new opportunities for future talent.

The next three years will be crucial in determining the long-term impact of this partnership on the medical foot care landscape, both domestically and internationally.
