KOECO announced on the 25th that it successfully operated the first-ever integrated Korean pavilion at the ‘2026 EGY Beauty Africa’ exhibition, held from April 25 to 27 at the Cairo International Exhibition Center (EIEC). This initiative marks a significant step in enhancing K-beauty’s visibility in a region ripe with potential.
The exhibition, recognized as the first government-supported initiative from KOTRA, garnered substantial interest from domestic companies. A total of 23 enterprises participated in the pavilion, which played a pivotal role in attracting local buyers, solidifying Korea's standing in the beauty industry amidst a bustling Egyptian market of over 100 million consumers.
KOECO reported that, despite this being the inaugural government-supported pavilion, the consultation outcomes exceeded expectations. Notably, over 60% of attendees were final decision-makers, allowing participating companies to engage deeply in business discussions with key importers and distributors, thereby facilitating meaningful connections that can impact revenue growth.
In collaboration with KOTRA, KOECO stationed specialized personnel on-site to provide one-on-one consultations that addressed local market entry issues, particularly regarding the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) registration process. This focus on reducing operational hurdles for participants is indicative of a strategic model aimed at fostering long-term partnerships and market integration.
The Hair & Nail Masters Showcase also featured live demonstrations, reaffirming the superior quality of Korean beauty devices and products. Furthermore, the concurrent exhibitions, which included the perfume (Egypt Perfumes) and detergent ingredient (Det-Chem) showcases, expanded business opportunities beyond finished products into raw materials and packaging technologies, enhancing the overall market experience.
According to CEO Jo Wansoo, the successful operation of the first Korean pavilion has confirmed the viability of market entry for Korean enterprises in Egypt. KOECO plans to establish additional Korean pavilions in upcoming years to strengthen connections within the rapidly developing Middle Eastern and African beauty markets.
The successful debut of the Korean pavilion at EGY Beauty Africa signals a new era for K-beauty in Africa, representing a shift towards integrated, supportive frameworks that encourage direct engagement and substantial business growth opportunities.
