P&K Skin Clinical Research Center, the leading skin testing company in South Korea, announced on the 15th that it achieved consolidated revenue of 6.2 billion KRW and operating profit of 1 billion KRW for Q1 2026. This marks the second consecutive year that P&K has surpassed 6 billion KRW in Q1 revenue, underscoring its solid growth trajectory in the competitive beauty sector.

The company reported a 20% increase in its backlog from 5 billion KRW to 6 billion KRW compared to the same period last year, creating optimistic expectations for future performance. The steady rise in demand for efficacy testing and compliance with country-specific regulations reflects the expanding global K-beauty market, enhancing the commercial potential for P&K’s tailored testing services that evaluate product characteristics and performance.

In comparison to the previous quarter, P&K saw an 8% increase in revenue and a 28% rise in operating profit, indicating a recovery phase. Notably, the traditionally Q4-heavy testing revenues for cosmetics showed strong performance in Q1 this year, suggesting a mitigated seasonal dependency and a continuous demand driven by evolving product trends.

However, on a year-over-year basis, revenue and operating profit decreased by 3.4% and 49.8%, respectively, attributed to delays in health functional food testing projects impacting revenue recognition. The proactive expansion of workforce and business scope within subsidiaries aimed to bolster testing capabilities has contributed to increased operational costs. This strategic investment is designed to enhance project execution capabilities and establish a stable growth foundation, anticipating gradual recovery in profitability as delayed project revenues are recognized.

P&K is advancing its trajectory towards becoming an AI-driven beauty tech company, leveraging its extensive skin data and innovative protocol development. Utilizing models like the Skin Aging Index (SAI), P&K is expanding its business into a comprehensive platform service that connects product development with consumer communication, offering increased value beyond mere test results.

Furthermore, P&K is providing testing data that aligns with regulatory and advertising claim standards in major markets like the U.S., Europe, and Japan, thereby supporting client expansion into global markets. A spokesperson for P&K stated, "We are extending our testing scope beyond cosmetics to health functional foods and beauty devices, while simultaneously enhancing our global regulatory compliance services to broaden our growth base. As our subsidiary, Koenrica, focuses on expanding projects in the North American and European markets, we aim for a record performance again this year with stable order flows."
