Amorepacific announced on the 12th that it presented a groundbreaking study utilizing AI-based skin imaging technology, which identifies specific aging patterns across facial regions. This significant development was unveiled at the International Society for Biophysics and Imaging in Dermatology (ISBS World Congress 2026) in Lyon, France.
The research, titled 'AI-Driven Visual Skin Imaging Reveals Region-Specific Facial Aging Patterns in Korean Participants: Wrinkles and Hyperpigmentation,' introduced the Facial Aging Map developed by Amorepacific's R&I Center. By leveraging a dataset of Korean facial images, the team visually illustrated the onset and progression of facial aging, aligning wrinkles and hyperpigmentation into a standardized facial composite for deeper insights.
This initiative is particularly noteworthy as it applies AI-enabled video analysis and the Standardized-Face Composite Overlay technique to reveal spatial characteristics of aging visible across the entire face. The findings elucidate that wrinkles and pigmentation evolve through distinct trajectories: wrinkles initially centered around the eyes and spreading to areas with significant expression or structural changes, while pigmentation first appears on the cheeks and beneath the eyes before expanding across the face. This comprehensive perspective on aging patterns offers richer insights than traditional localized assessments alone.
Additionally, by averaging data from the same age group, Amorepacific created a Standardized-Face Overlay that allows for an intuitive visualization of the aging progression in specific areas. This advance opens pathways for customized research and evaluation methods centered on aging characteristics, reinforcing early detection and proactive management of skin changes, rather than merely addressing aging post-factum.
Seo Byeong-hwi, CTO of Amorepacific's R&I Center, stated, “This research demonstrates how Amorepacific has leveraged its cumulative AI-driven imaging and skin analysis capabilities to visualize the dynamics of skin aging more intuitively.” He added that this foundation will be crucial for the implementation of Amorepacific’s Holistic Longevity Solution.
The study builds on Amorepacific's core AI skin diagnostic technology, Dr. AMORE®, currently integrated into the skincare diagnostic service 'SKIN NOTE' on the Amore Mall and the future skin prediction service 'My Future Skin' at Amore Yongsan City Lab. With these innovations, customers can anticipate their skin changes earlier, thus preparing for necessary skincare interventions, representing a transformative experience in skin management.
