Aekyung Industry announced on June 5 that it launched the 'Aekyung Carbon Diet' campaign in observance of World Environment Day, aimed at raising awareness about environmental protection and fostering a culture of carbon reduction within the company.

This initiative, part of the company's 'Aekyung Digital Carbon Diet' scheme, encourages employees to engage in simple, sustainable practices that can be easily integrated into their daily routines, thereby motivating collective participation in carbon reduction activities. The campaign aligns with Aekyung's overall strategy to enhance its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives.

From May 26 to June 1, Aekyung designated a week for environmental protection efforts, focusing on the deletion of unnecessary emails as a component of their 'Digital Carbon Diet.' This strategic approach was designed to facilitate easy participation among employees while enhancing the communal understanding of ESG practices.

Research indicates that saving one email generates approximately 4 grams of carbon dioxide. Therefore, simply deleting unnecessary emails can result in significant reductions of carbon emissions. By targeting an average of over 65 email deletions per employee, the campaign successfully led to the deletion of 613,361 emails, resulting in an estimated reduction of approximately 2,453 kg of carbon emissions.

Aekyung representatives stated, "The small actions taken by our employees can create meaningful changes in energy conservation and carbon reduction. We are committed to continually implementing the 'Aekyung Carbon Diet' campaign and promoting a culture of carbon reduction alongside our comprehensive ESG management initiatives." This commitment reflects an evolving business model that prioritizes sustainability as a core operational philosophy.

The initiative not only fosters greater employee engagement but also positions Aekyung Industry as a leader in environmentally conscious practices within the beauty sector. By adopting metrics-based approaches to sustainability, the company signals to investors and stakeholders its commitment to long-term value creation through responsible environmental stewardship.

Ultimately, Aekyung's initiative reflects a growing trend in the beauty industry where companies are increasingly integrating sustainability into their core operations, demonstrating that carbon neutrality is becoming essential to competitive positioning in a market where consumers and stakeholders demand accountability.
