On the 5th, Cosmecca Korea, a global cosmetics ODM specialist, announced its achievements in establishing a 'smart eco-factory' and obtaining the ISO 50001 certification for its energy management system. This initiative enhances the company's competitive edge and accelerates its goals in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management.

Selected in June 2022 for the ‘Smart Eco-Factory Construction Project’ by the Korea Environmental Corporation, Cosmecca Korea has actively worked on transitioning its key production equipment to high-efficiency models while implementing smart systems to resolve issues of energy inefficiency and carbon emissions.

Through this initiative, the company introduced energy-efficient equipment such as inverter-controlled air compressors, air conditioning units, and refrigeration systems. Moreover, a smart LED lighting system was installed in warehouses and workspaces to minimize unnecessary electricity consumption. The installation of scrubber equipment in wastewater treatment facilities has aided in reducing odor emissions, while dedicated charging stations for electric forklifts have enhanced workplace safety.

An extensive renewable energy infrastructure has been developed, with 469 solar modules rated at 640W installed on the rooftop of its auxiliary materials warehouse. This setup enables annual self-generation of approximately 277,586 kWh of electricity, resulting in a reduction of around 132.7 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂eq) greenhouse gas emissions.

The critical systems at the facility are integrated with an ICT-based power monitoring system that allows real-time tracking of solar energy generation and power consumption per equipment. This enables Cosmecca Korea to predict and manage power peaks effectively, leading to an estimated 40% reduction in energy consumption compared to previous figures.

Alongside this infrastructure enhancement, the company has recently achieved the ISO 50001 certification, a global standard for energy management systems that promotes systematic energy usage management and continuous efforts to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This certification complements its existing ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System), strengthening its framework for integrated management of environmental and energy concerns.

A representative from Cosmecca Korea stated, “The establishment of the smart eco-factory and the acquisition of ISO 50001 certification are pivotal milestones in enhancing our foundation for eco-friendly manufacturing. Moving forward, we will continuously identify improvement tasks based on energy usage data.” Under the vision of “Making the World Beautiful through ESG Management,” Cosmecca Korea aims to expand the adoption of renewable energy and transition to high-efficiency equipment. The company intends to progressively enhance its RE100 and carbon neutrality capabilities through its data-driven process improvement initiatives.
