Global beauty brand MISSHA, part of Able C&C, announced on the 17th that it will begin selling its products across 97 Boots locations in the UK, including 14 key stores in London, along with online channels. This marks a significant step in its European market strategy by leveraging a growth model validated in the U.S.
Boots, with a rich history spanning over 175 years and approximately 1,800 retail locations throughout the UK, is recognized as a leading retailer in the local beauty landscape due to its trustworthy reputation and accessibility. The entry into Boots signifies more than just an expansion of distribution—it represents the first move to extend the successful U.S. growth strategy into Europe.
Able C&C has reported a robust international growth trajectory, with overseas sales growing by 47.2% year-on-year in the first quarter of the year, comprising roughly 70% of total sales. Particularly noteworthy is that sales in the U.S. soared by 230% compared to the previous year, affirming the efficacy of its global business strategies.
With the UK chosen as a strategic hub for European expansion, Able C&C aims to leverage the country's status as one of the largest beauty markets in Europe. The UK shares similarities in consumer trends and content consumption with the U.S., making it a prime location to apply the brand's proven digital marketing and commerce strategies. Following its entry into the UK TikTok Shop in March, this Boots collaboration solidifies both its online and offline distribution capabilities in the market.
As the K-beauty export landscape rapidly evolves, Europe is emerging as a new growth pillar. In fact, during the first quarter of this year, the export of Korean cosmetics to Europe surpassed that to the U.S., indicating stronger demand and a growing market share as predictions suggest Europe is poised to be the next key market for K-beauty.
With its entry into Boots, MISSHA will focus on introducing best-selling products that have gained traction globally, particularly among UK consumers. Notable items include the ‘M Perfect Cover Serum BB Cream,’ recognized for its high popularity in the Amazon BB Cream category, the high-performance skincare line ‘PDRN·NAD+’, and the ‘Glow Skin Balm’ designed to create a natural radiance.
CEO Shin Yoo-jung emphasized that this entry into Boots marks a significant milestone not only for entering the UK market but also for expanding into the broader European market. She stated, "With the competitive edge of MISSHA products validated in the global market, we aim to inform UK consumers about the excellence of K-beauty while expanding our brand influence across Europe."
