CJ Olive Young Launches K-Pop-Linked Live Commerce Show 'Green Room'
CJ Olive Young is set to introduce a new live shopping content series, 'Green Room', combining elements of a music talk show with live commerce. This initiative aims to connect K-Pop artists with both domestic and international fanbases.
Announced on the 21st, 'Green Room' is Olive Young's first K-Pop related program within their 'Only Live' series. Conceptualized as an 'artist lounge', the program invites idol hosts to feature recently returned artists, sharing insights about new albums and behind-the-scenes stories. During the broadcast, viewers can interact with the artists and purchase exclusive albums available only through Olive Young.
To further enhance audience accessibility, 'Green Room' will be broadcast simultaneously on Olive Young's domestic Only Live channel, YouTube's 'Olyoung TV', and the global mall's Japanese website 'O.Y LIVE', with real-time translation support for Japanese viewers. Olive Young expanded their consumer touchpoints by introducing K-Pop albums to their global mall in 2022, transitioning to online stores, offline outlets, and pop-up shops. Consequently, album category sales have grown by 152% compared to the same period last year, reflecting a robust growth trend.
Aligned with this momentum, Olive Young has developed 'Green Room' to enrich customer shopping experiences by integrating K-Pop into live commerce while enhancing the competitive edge of their 'Only Live' content series.
The inaugural broadcast, scheduled for 8 PM on the 21st, will feature BTOB's Seo Eunkwang as the host, alongside four members (Lily, Seol Yoon, Bae, and Kyu Jin) from NMIXX who made their comeback with their sixth mini-album 'Strange Muse' on the 19th. The show will showcase a listening event for their new song and a live performance.
Viewers who purchase the NMIXX album during the broadcast will receive special benefits, including a chance to win limited edition photos, autographed albums and Olive Young gift cards through a raffle for those who confirm their purchases. Additionally, all purchasers will receive a refund of shipping costs in the form of Olive Young points.
The show also features a fan participation event called 'reverse prize event', enabling viewers to engage directly with the artists while having a chance to win popular products from Olive Young's key K-beauty brands. This opportunity for album purchase bonuses and fan participation will continue in future broadcasts of 'Green Room.'
After two pilot broadcasts this year, Olive Young plans to regularize 'Green Room' starting next year, optimizing it as a seasonal program with diverse artists and content tailored to widen engagement with both domestic and international K-Pop fandoms.
According to an Olive Young representative, the hope is that 'Only Live' will establish itself not only as a sales channel but also as a preferred platform where customers enjoy hybrid shopping experiences that combine content and commerce. The brand intends to continue offering various content that connects K-beauty with diverse K-culture, providing fresher and more varied shopping experiences.
