The Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI), led by Director Cha Soon-do, announced on the 10th that it has released an updated version of the "Global Biohealth Industry Trends" report. This initiative is designed to support the government’s key national agenda of positioning Korea as a leader in medical artificial intelligence (AI), pharmaceuticals, and biohealth, while also responding swiftly to the rapidly changing global industrial landscape.

The Global Trends report aims to enhance the global competitiveness of Korea’s biohealth industry by providing comprehensive insights into the latest trends and critical issues in the biohealth sectors of major countries and promising markets. Since its inception in 2012, the report has become a vital resource for industry stakeholders.

Last year, KHIDI strengthened the report's coverage by adding sections on "Trade and Commerce" and "Global Events," which enhance the industry's adaptability to supply chain changes, trade policies, and international exchange information. This year's addition of the "Medical Artificial Intelligence" section highlights the growing importance of AI technologies across all industries, effective starting from the report’s 584th issue due for publication on April 13.

AI is increasingly recognized as a cornerstone of new industries, with its applications in the biohealth sector expanding into areas such as diagnostics, drug development, and medical data analytics, along with a notable increase in investment.

Through this revision, KHIDI intends to systematically unify previously scattered global medical AI information, enabling the domestic industry to effectively identify technological transformations and leverage them strategically.

Lee Byung-kwan, head of the Biohealth Innovation Planning Division at KHIDI, emphasized, “This revision reflects the transformative trends within the global biohealth industry driven by the proliferation of AI technologies. We hope this will assist domestic industries in proactively identifying core future technologies to enhance their competitiveness.”

The publication can be accessed on the KHIDI website (www.khidi.or.kr, www.khiss.go.kr) under the "[Trends and Information] → [Biohealth Industry Trends] → [Global Trends]" section.
