Jeju Beauty and Food Enterprises Target Japan's Premium Market
The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and the Korea International Trade Association's Jeju branch announced on the 10th that they are jointly supporting six leading export firms from the region to penetrate Japan’s premium consumer goods market. This strategic foray will take place at the K-Premium Consumer Goods Fair, running from the 16th to the 18th in Tokyo.
This initiative forms part of an 'Overseas Exhibition Participation Support Project,' designed to elevate the global competitiveness of Jeju firms. The six participating companies passed a pre-screening process to validate their market viability, receiving financial backing from Jeju for booth rental, setup costs, transportation of exhibits, and local interpreter fees.
In line with the burgeoning global demand for K-food and K-beauty, the exhibition will prominently feature premium products harnessing Jeju’s unique resources. In the food sector, brands like 'Hallasan,' a premium soju crafted from Jeju's volcanic bedrock water, and 'Jeju Republic,' which offers easy-to-prepare haenyeo seaweed soup, will engage local buyers, showcasing the clean image of Jeju. Other food exhibitors include 'Olleh Bada,' presenting dishes featuring Jeju's prawn ramen and 'Wecanders,' showcasing organic juices and purees from Jeju.
On the K-beauty front, 'Korea Beauty Industry Promotion Agency' will showcase its ginger serum and 'Inner Beauty' consumables, while 'Sia Cosmetic' will present a coconut fermentation biosheet mask. Both companies aim to penetrate the Japanese aesthetic and high-end beauty markets.
Last year, Jeju's participation in the K-Premium Consumer Goods Fair, held in Osaka and Jakarta, resulted in an impressive $6.76 million in export contracts, demonstrating the region’s potential in international markets.
Kang Ae-sook, Director of Jeju Province’s Economic Vitality Bureau, stated that the premium products, enhanced by Jeju's pristine resources and superior quality, should receive high praise in Tokyo. She emphasized the commitment to enhancing the global capabilities of local export businesses through diverse support measures, from overseas marketing to local buyer matching.
