The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), led by Commissioner Oh Yu-kyung, announced on the 10th a significant enhancement of the online platform, "Global Cosmetics Regulatory Support Center." This initiative aims to boost the global regulatory capabilities of Korean cosmetics companies while facilitating their entry into international markets by providing essential resources, including export guides, AI-based regulatory consultations (COSBOT), and educational materials. The training program on international regulations will be conducted monthly from April to October 2026, furthering knowledge sharing in this competitive space.

The platform's redesign will feature user-centric updates, such as an integrated search function, mobile web capabilities, and personalized notification services for essential information updates, all set to be gradually implemented by the end of this year. This digital transformation indicates a strategic pivot towards making complex regulatory information more accessible, thus potentially reducing barriers for Korean exporters and enhancing their competitiveness in global markets.

Furthermore, the AI-driven regulatory consultation service, previously offering basic descriptive answers, will be enhanced to provide structured information through a sequence that includes core summaries, relevant regulatory procedures, legal bases, and additional guidance. This method not only enriches user comprehension but also improves the service's overall efficacy, which is crucial for businesses dealing in multiple international regulatory environments.

In line with expanding horizons, the MFDS plans to integrate regulatory information from ten emerging export countries beyond the current ten, utilizing feedback analysis to continuously improve response accuracy and service quality. This iterative learning approach is a proactive strategy, enabling businesses to stay ahead of evolving compliance requirements.

Starting in April 2026, the "International Regulations Education Webinar" will cater to responsible sales agents and manufacturers, providing insights into key regulations and permit changes across major export countries and emerging markets. This educational initiative aligns with a centralized strategy for lifting knowledge barriers that have traditionally hindered Korean enterprises from navigating international regulations.

Key topics include market entry strategies in Central Asia (April), updates on EU regulations (May), Brazilian cosmetics law and import procedures (June), African and Middle Eastern regulations (July), and comparative strategies for UV-filter regulations across Europe, the U.S., China, and ASEAN (October). The involvement of international regulatory officials in live Q&A sessions further personalizes the learning experience, addressing industry-specific queries in real-time.

This comprehensive support initiative signifies a strategic commitment to facilitating the international expansion of Korea’s cosmetics sector, positioning it favorably against global beauty safety standards and regulatory frameworks. As such, the MFDS's efforts signal a pivotal shift towards equipping local businesses with the necessary tools for successfully maneuvering the international beauty market.
