Cosmax Develops Biodegradable Flushable Toner Pads Targeting Global Clean Beauty Market
Cosmax announced on the 21st that it is launching a new toner pad, the Flush-it Melting Pad, designed with both consumer convenience and sustainability in mind, as part of its strategy to penetrate the global clean beauty market.
This innovative product, which underwent a two-step biodegradation process in water, was recognized for its sustainability merit by reaching the finals in the sustainability category at the Cosmopack Awards during Cosmoprof Bologna 2026 last month, indicating significant technological capabilities.
The demand for toner pads has surged in the cleansing and skincare categories, prompting Cosmax to focus on developing products that fulfill both usability and environmental values. Notably, the company has experienced an impressive average annual sales growth exceeding 30% for its toner pads over the past three years.
The Flush-it Melting Pad incorporates VEOCEL Lyocell fibers, a high-strength, single-fiber plant-based material. The product maintains structural integrity during use, but upon disposal, it undergoes initial degradation through friction with water, followed by secondary biological decomposition via microorganisms.
This fabric has received the Technical Flushability Assessment from CTP (Centre Technique du Papier) in France, confirming its flushable status. Additionally, the material is capable of biodegrading in soil and natural settings, as well as being compostable in both household and industrial environments.
On a formulation level, the product emphasizes eco-friendliness, with 99% of its essence ingredients derived from natural sources. The use of extracts from the Tremella fuciformis mushroom and thyme achieves a natural origin index (NOI) of 0.99, adhering to ISO 16128 standards.
A Cosmax representative stated, “This product enhances sustainability by considering not only user experience but also the disposal process. We will continue to launch innovative products based on differentiated technological capabilities, thereby expanding the competitive edge of K-beauty in the global clean beauty market.”
