KTR Designated as Performance Evaluation Institution for Cybersecurity Products

Korea Testing & Research Institute (KTR), led by Director Kim Hyun-cheol, announced on the 10th that it has been designated by the Ministry of Science and ICT as a performance evaluation institution for cybersecurity products.

This evaluation system, established under the Act on the Promotion of the Cybersecurity Industry and its enforcement regulations, assesses cybersecurity products based on their security and general functionality, as well as efficiency in time and resources. This systematic validation plays a crucial role in the operational performance and security posture of products aimed at reducing cybersecurity risks.

The designation enables KTR to deliver precision performance verification services for critical network security products such as firewalls and intrusion prevention systems. The emphasis on preventing cybersecurity gaps through testing services specifically targets the mitigation of potential hacking incidents and performance degradation in real operational environments.

KTR provides a myriad of cybersecurity evaluation services, including testing for security features of cybersecurity products, Common Criteria (CC) certification evaluations, IoT security certifications, payment terminal security testing, and cybersecurity assessments for medical devices. By diversifying its service offerings, KTR positions itself as a comprehensive provider in the cybersecurity evaluation landscape.

Notably, KTR has become the first domestic testing facility to implement quality evaluations for AI systems following international standards (ISO/IEC 25059, ISO/IEC 25058), as well as reliability (ISO/IEC TR 24028) verification and AI data quality checks (ISO/IEC 5259-2). This recognition as a KOLAS-accredited testing institution allows KTR to ensure the integrity and quality of AI-related cybersecurity products.

Director Kim emphasized, "As a first mover in AI software testing and certification, KTR is committed to providing authorized testing and evaluation services relating to AI, software, and network systems. This designation as a performance evaluation body for cybersecurity products will enable KTR to expand its high-quality evaluation services on the security and performance of network products even further,” underlining the institution's strategic expansion in this vital area.
