KTR Partners with Dermatest to Enhance Global Certification for K-Beauty Brands

KTR (Korea Testing & Research Institute), led by Director Kim Hyun-cheol, announced on the 23rd that it has established a collaboration framework with Dermatest, a specialist in dermatological testing and certification based in Münster, Germany. This partnership is designed to assist Korean cosmetic companies in obtaining global certifications, which is crucial for expanding their market reach in Europe and beyond.

By streamlining the certification process through KTR, domestic beauty brands will experience reduced time and linguistic barriers when accessing Dermatest's reputable certification services. This strategic move not only facilitates compliance with rigorous safety standards but also enhances the credibility of K-Beauty products in the competitive global market.

The certifications provided by Dermatest are recognized for their reliability, covering safety and quality for cosmetics and other consumer products applied to the skin. They are categorized into three tiers based on testing intensity: Original for basic safety assurance, 3-star for products tested over four weeks, and 5-star for long-term clinical trials that account for actual usage areas.

Furthermore, KTR and Dermatest have committed to exchanging information on dermatological testing guidelines across Europe and Korea, as well as collaborating on compliance with global regulations. This cooperation is poised to significantly enhance support for Korean cosmetics exporters and position them more favorably against international competitors.

As a designated testing institution by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, KTR covers the entire product lifecycle, offering services from product development to export compliance, alongside quality assessments for distributed cosmetics. Since 2016, it has also operated the country's first animal alternative testing center to evaluate cosmetics, medical bio-products, and chemical goods while being the only institution capable of performing human application tests concurrently.

Kim Hyun-cheol emphasized that this partnership will empower cosmetic exporters by easing access to internationally recognized Dermatest certifications. He stated, 'KTR will leverage its certification expertise and global network to ensure that K-Beauty can lead in the global market.'
