Iwoo Bio announced on the 17th that it has strengthened its supply chain of essential cosmetic raw materials, DPG (Dipropylene Glycol) and 1,3-BG (1,3-Butylene Glycol), through strategic collaboration with Hi-Tech Spring in Shandong, China. This partnership aims to mitigate the supply disruptions resulting from recent geopolitical instability in the Middle East, which has significantly impacted the global petrochemical supply chain. These ingredients are vital for moisturizing and solvent functions in cosmetics, and prolonged supply issues could lead to production delays for domestic manufacturers, raising industry concerns.

During the visit to Hi-Tech Spring’s facilities, which included an assessment of their production, research, and quality management systems, Iwoo Bio's President Choi Jae-Chun discussed plans to create a steady supply framework aimed at expanding presence in the Korean market. This collaboration comes at a critical time, with the demand for stable sourcing of high-quality raw materials becoming increasingly urgent.

Hi-Tech Spring is a key subsidiary of Haike Holding Group, established in 1988, and is a significant player in the value-added chemical materials sector, employing over 1,100 staff and generating approximately $450 million in revenue as of 2022. Their production output serves multiple industries, including lithium batteries, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and food, indicating diversified operational capabilities. This establishes a strong foundation for Iwoo Bio’s stability in ingredient sourcing, critical to ensuring uninterrupted production for Korean cosmetics firms.

The collaboration aims to establish a robust supply chain and enhance Iwoo Bio’s competitive edge by leveraging Hi-Tech Spring’s extensive production capabilities, automated processes, and R&D infrastructure. Hi-Tech Spring holds various global certifications, including REACH, COSMOS, HALAL, KOSHER, and SEDEX, affirming its commitment to quality and international standards. It exports to over 100 countries, which enhances the potential for Iwoo Bio to tap into diverse global markets.

Iwoo Bio has verified the operational stability and quality competiveness of the materials through on-site assessments, asserting a current production capacity of approximately 6,000 tons of high-quality DPG, PG, Propylene Carbonate, and 1,3-BG (both synthetic and natural). Notably, Iwoo Bio plans to escalate its annual production capability to 10,000 tons by the end of this year, reinforcing its resilience against supply chain uncertainties.
