The International Beauty Industry Trade Association (IBITA) announced on the 10th that it will collaborate with KOTRA at ‘Beautyworld Japan Tokyo 2026,’ marking a decisive step in targeting the Japanese beauty market. Set to take place from May 18 to 20 at Tokyo Big Sight, this event is recognized as Japan's largest B2B beauty trade exhibition. It is expected to attract around 1,000 global companies and over 70,000 industry professionals and buyers, presenting a critical platform for K-Beauty brands to expand their foothold.

IBITA, led by Chairman Yoon Joo-taek, is set to operate a dedicated Korean pavilion alongside an independent IBITA exhibition area, featuring participation from approximately 40 Korean companies. This dual representation will showcase a diverse range of products and technologies, including cosmetics, aesthetic solutions, beauty devices, hair and nail care, eyelash extensions, and OEM/ODM services, underlining the comprehensive capabilities of K-Beauty brands.

Notably, Beautyworld Japan is distinguished by its high percentage of local Japanese buyers, which comprises about 90% of its visitors. The exhibition is characterized by its focus on practical consultations and business deals, particularly thriving in sectors such as aesthetics, nail care, eyelash, and clinical beauty. The increasing interest from hospitals, clinics, and medical beauty-related buyers indicates a significant growth trajectory for K-Beauty in Japan, particularly in the realms of dermacosmetics, functional skincare, wellness, femcare, and inner beauty products.

IBITA Executive Director Kim Eun-jung emphasized on the 10th the necessity for long-term distribution partnerships and brand trust in the Japanese market. She expressed that the association will actively support participating companies to generate tangible results with key Japanese distributors and buyers. Kim noted that K-Beauty has established itself as a stable category within the Japanese market, evolving beyond a mere trend.

She added, "This exhibition will serve as an opportunity to once again substantiate the brand competitiveness and technological prowess of Korean companies in Japan." Post-exhibition, IBITA plans to continue support efforts through buyer matchmaking for participant companies and pre-recruitment activities for the 2027 exhibition, reinforcing its role in nurturing long-term business relationships.
