Kazakhstan Emerging as Central Asia's Beauty Hub: Opportunities at Central Asia Beauty Expo 2026
The Central Asia Beauty Expo & COSMODERM Expo 2026 launched on the 28th and will run until the 30th at the Atakent International Exhibition Centre in Almaty, Kazakhstan. With 37 participating companies, including 22 within the Korean pavilion organized by Koiko, the event underscores Kazakhstan's significance as a beauty hub in Central Asia.
This expo attracts over 500 exhibitors from more than 30 countries, positioning them strategically to capitalize on the growing demand within Kazakhstan's beauty market, which is heavily reliant on imports. The event showcases the latest trends and technological advancements in cosmetics, facilitating business dialogues that could enhance revenue for participating brands.
The COSMODERM Expo, located in Pavilion 9, has evolved from its previous role as an aesthetic specialty area within the Central Asia Beauty Expo to an independent exhibition, reflecting its importance in medical beauty sectors such as laser treatments and high-tech skincare devices. This transitional branding signals a shift in focus toward more specialized and lucrative product categories, enhancing the potential for cross-border partnerships among healthcare-driven beauty companies.
With a staggering 90% import dependency, Kazakhstan's beauty industry offers a substantial opportunity for Korean cosmetics firms. Aiming to penetrate this market, these brands are facilitating business consultations focused on OEM and ODM services, contract manufacturing, packaging, and private labeling. This approach highlights a strategic pivot towards supply chain integration, a critical aspect for sustaining competitive advantages in a growing market.
The participation of 101 South Korean companies spotlights the strength and viability of Korean brands in the region, while expected annual growth rates of 28.7% in exports to Kazakhstan underline the lucrative nature of this market. With skin care projected to grow at a rate of 7.3% annually until 2030, these statistics suggest actionable insights for brands looking to expand their portfolios in specific segments aligned with local consumer interests.
Kazakhstan's evolving demographics, including a burgeoning middle class and increasing demand for premium products, lays a favorable foundation for K-beauty brands. The MZ generation’s growing preference for clean and eco-friendly products, combined with strong social media engagement, presents excellent infrastructure for amplifying the reach of K-beauty routines. This behavioral shift signals a robust market for brands that emphasize sustainable practices.
Further reinforcing this growth trajectory is the Kazakhstan government's support for small and medium-sized enterprises and its efforts to attract foreign direct investment (FDI). This political backing enhances the attractiveness of Kazakhstan as a central hub for beauty industry investments and cross-border collaborations. According to Koiko’s CEO, such conditions provide a supportive environment for establishing Korean brands within new distribution networks, promoting stability in traditionally volatile geopolitical climates.
Looking ahead, Koiko has already planned to recruit Korean participants for the expo in 2027, anticipating continued demand and partnership opportunities. This proactive strategy indicates not only Kazakhstan's rising importance within the broader Central Asian beauty market but also its potential as a launchpad for brands looking to engage with neighboring countries such as Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan.
