Cosmecca Korea Announces ISO 50001 Certification and Smart Eco-Factory Achievement on Environment Day

Cosmecca Korea, a leading global cosmetics manufacturer, announced on the 5th its establishment of a 'Smart Eco-Factory' and the successful acquisition of ISO 50001 certification for energy management systems. This initiative not only reduces energy consumption by approximately 40% but also positions the company as a frontrunner in the high-efficiency and eco-friendly manufacturing sector.

Last June, Cosmecca Korea was selected by the Korea Environment Corporation for the Smart Eco-Factory Construction Project, signaling a strategic move to tackle energy inefficiencies and carbon emission issues associated with aging machinery.

The transformation included the integration of high-efficiency facilities such as inverter-controlled air compressors, chillers, and advanced smart LED lighting systems. Additionally, the installation of scrubber systems at wastewater treatment facilities aims to mitigate odor issues, further enhancing safety and operational efficiency in the workplace.

In terms of renewable energy infrastructure, the company has installed 469 solar modules with a capacity of 640W each on the roof of its auxiliary material warehouse. This setup is projected to generate approximately 277,586 kWh annually, resulting in a reduction of about 132.7 tons of CO₂ equivalents in greenhouse gas emissions.

The installed systems are integrated with an ICT-based power monitoring system, allowing real-time tracking of solar power generation and energy consumption by equipment, leading to effective peak power management. Cosmecca Korea has reported achieving around 40% energy savings through these enhancements.

Furthermore, the recent acquisition of ISO 50001 certification reinforces the company's management capabilities, allowing for systematic energy use management and continuous improvement in energy efficiency and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. This complements the existing ISO 14001 certification, thereby enhancing Cosmecca Korea's ability to manage environmental and energy parameters cohesively.

A spokesperson from Cosmecca Korea stated that the establishment of the Smart Eco-Factory and the certification achievement mark significant milestones in solidifying their eco-friendly manufacturing foundation. The company is committed to ongoing data-driven improvements across operational processes to reinforce renewable energy initiatives and energy-efficient transitions, all aligned with their vision of 'Making the World Beautiful through ESG Management.'
