Kosemeca Korea, a global specialist in OGM cosmetics, announced on the 8th that it will collaborate with Professor Park Woo-joon’s research team from Korea University for the development of 'next-generation dermacosmetic materials' based on microbiome.

The microbiome, which refers to the community of microorganisms living in and on the human body, has gained prominence in skin care R&D due to its impact on skin barrier function, immune response, and aging. The joint research initiative aims to discover novel materials that help maintain the balance of the skin microbiome and improve overall skin condition.

This partnership leverages skin environment data to explore candidates linked to the microbiome, with a focus on testing efficacy and safety to expand the potential for new dermacosmetic ingredients. By concentrating on maintaining holistic skin health rather than simply addressing aging signs, this research is strategically positioned to meet the rising demand for high-performance, scientifically validated skin care products in the global market.

A representative from Kosemeca Korea stated that this collaboration will serve as a turning point in enhancing the competitiveness of next-generation dermacosmetic materials based on the skin microbiome. The company aims to secure differentiated technological competitiveness in the global market through its unique bio-converged materials research.

Professor Park’s research team remarked, "Acquiring technology to collectively interpret and control the interactions of the skin microbiome at the ecosystem level is crucial." The team aims to develop materials that can simultaneously suppress harmful bacteria while protecting beneficial ones, marking a successful case of industry-academic collaboration.

This initiative signals a trend towards a more integrated approach to skin health within the beauty market, hinting at an ongoing shift towards functional and science-driven innovation that can encapsulate a broader consumer base internationally.
