Amorepacific Unveils AI-Driven Facial Aging Map at ISBS World Congress 2026

Amorepacific announced on the 12th the unveiling of a research study utilizing AI-based skin image analysis technology to identify region-specific facial aging patterns. This presentation took place at the ISBS World Congress 2026, held in Lyon, France, marking a significant advancement in how the industry visualizes and understands skin aging.

The study, titled 'AI-Driven Visual Skin Imaging Reveals Region-Specific Facial Aging Patterns in Korean Participants: Wrinkles and Hyperpigmentation,' was conducted by Amorepacific's R&I Center. The research visually detailed the starting points and paths of facial aging specific to Korean individuals, presenting a Facial Aging Map. This map enables a comprehensive view of facial aging by aligning facial images to extract detailed information on wrinkles and pigmentation, integrating them into a standardized facial image for comparative analysis.

This initiative differentiates itself by employing AI-driven video analysis and the Standardized-Face Composite Overlay technique, allowing researchers to observe spatial characteristics of aging across the face. Findings indicate that wrinkles and hyperpigmentation progress along distinct pathways; wrinkles typically radiate from the eye area to regions with significant structural changes, while hyperpigmentation appears first on the cheeks and under the eyes before broadening across the face.

Additionally, the average data across similar age groups was utilized to create a Standardized-Face Composite Overlay, intuitively visualizing the order of aging across different facial regions. This innovative approach lays groundwork for developing tailored research and evaluation methodologies focused on specific aging characteristics, asserting the potential for proactive management of skin changes rather than merely addressing them post-occurrence.

Seobyeongwhee Seo, CTO of Amorepacific's R&I Center, commented, 'This research is a visualization of how Amorepacific's accumulated capabilities in AI-based imaging and skin analysis can provide a clearer understanding of the progression of skin aging.'
