Imieen Strengthens Global ESG Competence with EcoVadis Bronze Medal
Imieen, a specialist in cosmetics OEM and ODM, announced on the 25th that it has achieved a Bronze Medal from EcoVadis, a global leader in sustainability assessments. This recognition underscores Imieen's commitment to elevating its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management standards, enhancing its competitiveness and supply chain capabilities in response to increasing ESG expectations from global clients.
EcoVadis, founded in France in 2007, evaluates over 150,000 companies across more than 180 countries based on four key criteria: Environment, Labor and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Companies that rank within the top 35% of their sector are awarded a Bronze Medal. The assessment results serve as vital benchmarks for global corporations in their partner and supply chain selection processes.
Imieen excelled particularly in the Environment category, scoring the highest of all areas evaluated. It also performed commendably in Labor and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement, demonstrating a balanced achievement across the entire ESG spectrum. This accomplishment reflects the consistent enhancements Imieen has made to its enterprise-wide ESG management framework, which identifies environmental conservation and pollution reduction as core values.
The company has implemented an ISO 14001-certified environmental management system, tracking progress on its five-year ESG enhancement roadmap. This includes measures for climate change adaptation, resource recycling, and performance indicators for environmental metrics, thus fortifying its sustainable management foundation.
Imieen is also committed to reducing energy consumption in production processes, minimizing greenhouse gas and pollutant emissions, and engaging in waste reduction initiatives. Furthermore, the company is actively developing biodegradable eco-friendly raw materials and expanding the use of recyclable packaging to lessen environmental impacts throughout its product lifecycle.
In collaboration with PlanTFarm, a smart farm specialist, and BIOSPLASH, a bio-materials expert, Imieen aims to develop functional materials utilizing smart farm ingredients while securing sustainable supply chains. Additionally, through strategic partnerships with major Japanese companies like Asahi Kasei, it is pursuing product development that incorporates biodegradable functional sheet materials.
To foster an ESG-positive environment, Imieen has implemented various initiatives, including ethics and human rights education for employees and policies against workplace harassment and discrimination. Regular environmental training in line with ISO 14001 standards is also conducted across all business sites to enhance employees' environmental awareness, thereby promoting an ESG-driven culture.
The acquisition of the Bronze Medal is significant as it objectively validates Imieen's ESG management capabilities amid rising global client demands for stringent ESG standards. This recognition is expected to bolster trust and improve tendering competitiveness in the global market, aligning with Imieen's future strategy to continuously enhance its ESG initiatives.
An Imieen representative commented, "Building on the EcoVadis assessment, we plan to systematically monitor our ESG management levels and continuously identify improvement areas across all ESG domains, including environment, labor, human rights, ethics, and supply chain management. We aim to progressively enhance our sustainable management framework and reinforce company-wide ESG awareness and execution systems."
