SK Chemicals Launches Emergency Relief Kits in Response to Climate Crisis

SK Chemicals, led by CEO Ahn Jae-hyun, announced on the 13th the creation of emergency relief kits as part of its '2026 VALUE Day' program. This initiative signifies the company's commitment to tackling social challenges exacerbated by climate change while enhancing employee engagement in corporate social responsibility initiatives.

The kits, consisting of 30 essential items such as food, hygiene, emergency, safety products, and moisture absorbers, cater to the needs of disaster-affected individuals. A total of 400 kits were assembled by SK Chemicals employees, demonstrating a significant operational capacity in social contribution activities.

Once completed, the relief kits were handed over to the NGO Ji Foundation, which will store and manage them at its logistics facility in Yeoju. The foundation has a commitment to distribute these kits within three days to areas in urgent need following a disaster, thereby ensuring rapid response logistics.

As climate change intensifies and societal uncertainties grow, SK Chemicals aims to actively identify and pursue ESG initiatives that address pressing social issues. This proactive approach not only enhances corporate reputation but also aligns with evolving consumer expectations for corporate accountability.

Goh Jeong-seok, head of SK Chemicals' Management Support Division, remarked on the increasing necessity for companies and employees to engage in socio-economic challenges. The statement underscores a business model that incorporates corporate responsibility as a core element, potentially boosting employee morale and fostering a culture of commitment.

The VALUE Day program, initiated in 2025, focuses on supporting vulnerable communities within the local society. Last year, the company produced 450 emergency relief kits, prioritizing distribution to disabled households impacted by forest fires in areas like Uiseong, Yeongyang, and Yeongdeok.

This initiative sends a clear signal to the beauty and broader industry sectors about the necessity of integrating ESG considerations into core business strategies.
