In a recent report, global leader in consumer intelligence NIQ revealed that K-Beauty has cemented its position within the rapidly growing global beauty segment, with revenue increasing by 53% year-over-year and 131% over the past two years. This data highlights extensive shifts in beauty sector growth influenced by regional innovations, social commerce, and digital consumer demand expansion at a global scale.

The report titled 'K-Beauty Goes Global' illustrates how Korean beauty is reshaping consumer expectations, accelerating innovation cycles, and redefining competitive dynamics across the international beauty market. Originating from cultural trends, K-Beauty is now serving as a broader indicator of the industry's future.

Key findings include robust global growth with K-Beauty revenue having surged 53% year-over-year, evidencing rapid international expansion. Additionally, social commerce is becoming a driving force; data from TikTok Shop indicate a 125% increase in K-Beauty searches within the UK by 2025, while revenue from K-Beauty brands in the TikTok Shop across the UK, US, Spain, and Germany has grown by 430% year-on-year.

Latin America is also seeing significant momentum, particularly in Brazil and Mexico where revenue increased by 135%. In North America, e-commerce accounts for 76% of K-Beauty sales, with Canada expected to record $164 million, a 57% increase by 2025. Furthermore, Western Europe demonstrated a revenue increase of 58% year-over-year, with Korean brands currently contributing approximately 10% to European online skincare sales, and rising as much as 15-20% in key markets like Italy, Spain, and France.

The rise of K-Beauty reflects broader changes in how beauty growth is generated and expanded. Product types like sheet masks, acne patches, essences, serums, and ampoules are becoming standard practices rather than niche routines, while ingredient-focused innovations featuring snail mucin, Centella Asiatica, and PDRN illustrate how some K-Beauty concepts have extended beyond expert clientele. Simultaneously, K-Beauty sets new standards for affordable, high-performance products and a faster innovation cycle, creating seamless purchasing experiences from discovery to acquisition.

Tara James Taylor, Senior Vice President of Global Beauty Personal Care at NIQ, commented, "K-Beauty has established itself as a clear example of how regional beauty innovation can transform into global growth. Its success is rooted in speed, cultural relevance, and the ability to transform innovation into everyday habits. More importantly, it demonstrates the necessity for beauty brands to read emerging regional signals earlier, understand changing consumer demands, and act swiftly across the marketplace. The next phase of growth is anticipated to arise from expansions into adjacent categories such as wellness and haircare, and scaling in high-growth regions like Latin America and the Middle East."

NIQ's analysis also underscores that K-Beauty shows sustained momentum, reporting a 27% growth across the Asia-Pacific region, excluding South Korea and China. In the Middle East, K-Beauty e-commerce growth reaches 76%, emphasizing the roles of digitally engaged consumers and an increasingly interested market as the category evolves into its next phase of expansion.
