CJ Olive Young Launches 'OLIVE YOUNG K-Beauty Edit' at Sephora Stores in the U.S.
CJ Olive Young, a curated beauty retailer, is making a significant entry into the U.S. market by introducing selected K-beauty brands through its new initiative, 'OLIVE YOUNG K-Beauty Edit,' set to launch on the 20th at over 580 Sephora store locations and online.
This collaboration stems from a partnership formed in January, leveraging Olive Young's curation expertise and brand recognition to facilitate K-beauty brands' entry into large retail channels and expand their reach to local consumers.
The initiative showcases Olive Young's strategy for entering the North American market. In addition to launching standalone stores in Pasadena and Los Angeles in May and June, respectively, the inclusion of a dedicated curation space in Sephora's well-established offline infrastructure significantly enhances accessibility for local consumers.
'OLIVE YOUNG K-Beauty Edit' is designed to present a comprehensive representation of K-beauty's diversity and trends, moving beyond mere product display. It features approximately 150 product variations across 19 K-beauty brands, focusing on popular categories such as serums, creams, sun care, toner pads, innovative cleansers, and face masks.
Included in this launch are well-known steady sellers like the 'Rejuran' ampoule and 'Toread' hydrating serum, alongside emerging brands like 'B Plain' mung bean cleanser and 'Tom' beauty devices. Olive Young plans to update its brand and product lineup biannually based on trends and local consumer feedback.
The two companies are committed to robust localized marketing efforts, with Sephora utilizing its flagship store's advertising spaces in New York City to promote 'OLIVE YOUNG K-Beauty Edit.' Comprehensive marketing content introducing the initiative will also be sent to Sephora's regional members.
Moreover, celebratory events will be organized across major U.S. cities starting from the 20th, featuring pop-up truck stores outside key Sephora locations in Times Square, Austin, and Miami. This strategy focuses on high foot-traffic areas to engage consumers with photo opportunities and samples, enhancing the visibility of both 'OLIVE YOUNG K-Beauty Edit' and the brands involved.
This launch marks the beginning of a broader global expansion strategy. Plans to introduce 'OLIVE YOUNG K-Beauty Edit' to Sephora locations in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Hong Kong are underway within the year, with further expansions planned for Canada, Australia, the UK, and the Middle East by 2027.
Kim Do-young, Global MD at Olive Young, commented that the American standalone stores serve as a space for consumers to deeply experience the allure of K-beauty and establish optimal beauty routines. He noted, "The combination of Olive Young's unique product planning capabilities with Sephora's extensive distribution infrastructure will allow more consumers to encounter exceptional K-beauty brands."
Carolyn Boyanoski, MD at Sephora, stated that K-beauty has reshaped the global beauty market and emphasized Sephora's commitment to presenting the best products. She added, "Through our partnership with Olive Young, we aim to help Sephora customers come closer to K-beauty while further solidifying Sephora's position as a destination for discovering new beauty."
