P&K Skin Clinical Research Center Co., Ltd., a leading clinical testing company in Korea, has achieved a 'Satisfactory' rating in core evaluation areas of sun protection efficacy assessment based on international standards (ISO) through the international proficiency testing organization BIPEA.

This accomplishment follows P&K's certification as an international recognized testing laboratory by the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS), highlighting its quality systems and technical capabilities as the first of its kind in Korea.

P&K has confirmed its testing competencies in essential sun care areas, including SPF, water resistance, and UVA protection effects, through international comparative testing. As the standards for sunscreens become increasingly segmented by country and market demand, reliable testing data is emerging as a vital asset that influences product development and strategies for international market entry.

The methods awarded with 'Satisfactory' ratings include ISO 24444 for in vivo SPF measurement, ISO 16217 for evaluating sun protection effects post immersion, and ISO 18861. Additionally, the in vitro capability for assessing UVA efficacy through ISO 24443 is included. P&K successfully secured 'Satisfactory' ratings across all four international standard testing methods.

BIPEA, located in France, operates a proficiency testing program involving over 4,000 testing laboratories in 130 countries worldwide. Participating institutions independently evaluate blind samples with unknown standard values, and their submitted results are statistically compared with data from laboratories worldwide.

Sun protection efficacy testing is influenced by several factors, including the tester's skill level, equipment operation, as well as environmental conditions like temperature and humidity. P&K's successful accreditation indicates its capability to manage testing variables effectively and produce consistent results.

This achievement translates directly into advantages in the product development processes of its clients. P&K has established a unified system to conduct SPF, water resistance, and UVA efficacy tests in one location. This reduces discrepancies due to varying conditions when multiple testing laboratories are used, allowing for consistent management from product development to final validation.

Moreover, securing international standard-based data from the development stage enables systematic responses to the material requirements of overseas markets and distribution channels. By minimizing the potential for additional testing and retesting, P&K optimizes testing schedules and costs, thereby accelerating the product launch process.

A representative from P&K stated that the 'Satisfactory' rating from BIPEA demonstrates its stability in assessing core sun care areas, from SPF to water resistance and UVA protection, within a unified framework. P&K aims to continuously enhance differentiated testing services that swiftly adapt to evolving global standards and assessment criteria, supporting its clients in navigating the complexities of international market entry successfully.
