The recent ‘Olive Young Festa LA 2026’ transformed downtown Los Angeles into a massive K-beauty playground, attracting 100,000 visitors from August 14 to 16. The event, aligned with the globally recognized KCON LA 2026 festival, featured 55 K-beauty and lifestyle brands across a 4,700 square meter venue.

Olive Young presented a variety of experiential content showcasing the latest K-beauty trends, offering local consumers the opportunity to discover and engage with new brands and products. This event also collaborated with KCON, capitalizing on its strong K-culture fanbase, effectively bringing K-beauty to both dedicated enthusiasts and newcomers in the local market.

Supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the Festa served as a platform to facilitate the global growth of small and indie K-beauty brands.

Upon entering the venue, attendees were welcomed by sounds mimicking Seoul subway stations, creating an immersive experience. The setup emulated the iconic streets of Gangnam, Seongsu, Myeongdong, and Hongdae, with Korean street signs and bus stops enhancing the ambiance. Visitors were encouraged to capture moments through photos and short-form videos.

One of the highlights was the ‘Olive Young Store’ showcase, designed to replicate the Olive Young shopping experience, attracting crowds eager to explore trendy K-beauty products. The skincare section provided a curated selection to demonstrate a complete ‘K-skincare routine,’ allowing various products to be compared and sampled.

Another popular area was the experiential service section. The ‘My Color Vibe’ zone offered personalized product recommendations based on individual color diagnostics, maintaining long lines throughout the event. The ‘Skin Scan’ service, which provided skin condition assessments and solution kits to customers purchasing beauty boxes, also received strong interest.

Leslie, a visitor who drove three hours from San Diego, expressed her excitement about trying diverse skincare products and her eagerness to visit Olive Young stores in the U.S. after hearing they have opened.

The Festa also served as a significant platform for small and indie brands entering the U.S. market to interact with local consumers and enhance brand awareness. Participating brands, all available in U.S. Olive Young stores, set up individual booths to showcase their products through demonstrations and participatory events.

Jo Yong-hoon, the CEO of haircare brand Lily Eve, noted the importance of meeting real customers, particularly in the U.S. market, and how such events can alleviate the financial burden of hosting large-scale promotional activities. The Olive Young Festa allowed brands to engage with local consumers more effectively.

The event featured interactive sessions like the 'Beauty & Health Deep Dive' that fostered deeper relationships between brands and local customers. Representatives actively highlighted unique product characteristics and usage methods, further facilitating dialogue and engagement.

This successful collaboration with KCON, which has built K-culture influence over many years in the U.S., attracted not only dedicated K-beauty followers but also new participants naturally drawn into the mix. This reflects a positive shift from a concentrated K-culture consumer base to a broader interest encompassing K-beauty and lifestyle as well.

As a representative from Olive Young stated, the event was meaningful in allowing K-beauty brands entering the U.S. to build trust and rapport with local consumers. Olive Young aims to continue expanding opportunities for domestic brands to connect with global customers and support the development of the K-beauty ecosystem within the American market.

Additionally, the Olive Young Festa launched in 2019 as the first beauty festival in South Korea, providing a platform for brands to interact with customers and showcase main products. Starting this year, the favored festival will evolve into a world tour format, allowing global customers to experience it directly, beginning with its inaugural event in the U.S.
