Sulwhasoo Launches 'Sulwhasu Project Season 3' Exhibition

The global luxury beauty brand Sulwhasoo is hosting the 'Sulwhasoo Project Season 3' exhibition from August 18 to September 6 at the 'House of Sulwhasoo' located in Bukchon, Seoul.

This initiative aligns with Sulwhasoo's philosophy of contemporaneously inheriting and modernly interpreting traditional culture. Leading up to the exhibition, a cultural project involving university students was conducted over three months starting in June.

The final artworks reinterpret traditional mask dance through a modern lens, allowing participants to express their individual visions. Each team of participants was provided with 5 million KRW in project production costs and additional activity expenses, alongside mentoring opportunities from experts such as graphic designer duo Shinshin and photographer Kim Yong-ho.

Participants engaged in the exploration and creation of mask dance, documenting their processes to contribute to the wider dissemination of traditional cultural values.

Among the showcased works in Season 3, the 'Gilmisaewi Team' (including Im Soo-bin, Han Seung-hee, Lee Yoo-jin, and Lee Da-hye) received the grand prize for their piece 'Majunol.' This work effectively incorporated the communal aspects of mask dance with play, achieving high-quality results through the innovative use of media art that enabled audience participation.

All exhibited works from Season 3 can be viewed freely at the House of Sulwhasoo in Bukchon. Following the exhibition, Sulwhasoo plans to digitally publish all creative processes and outcomes from this project on its official website, thereby enhancing its role as a platform for recording and sharing modern interpretations of traditional culture. Furthermore, Sulwhasoo is set to recruit university students for participation in Season 4 of the Sulwhasoo Project in September.
