Aekyung Promotes K-Beauty with Strategic Entry into Polish Market
Aekyung Industry announced on the 10th that it has strategically entered the Polish market by launching its K-beauty haircare brands, Cica Labo and Alpist, at all Rossmann Poland stores and their official online platform. This move marks Aekyung's deliberate effort to penetrate the European market with a total of nine products, including five from Cica Labo and four from Alpist, across approximately 2,000 distribution channels.
The selection of Poland as a key market is driven by the country's high growth potential, with the haircare segment projected to reach approximately 4.8 billion PLN (about 1.6 trillion KRW) by 2024, reflecting an annual growth rate of around 6%. The analysis indicates that there is an increasing demand for functional scalp care and vegan-concept products within the drugstore-centric retail structure, paving the way for greater market engagement.
A particular trend noted in Poland is 'skinification,' where scalp care is managed similarly to skin care. The growing interest in functional products for scalp soothing and moisturizing emphasizes the relevance of Aekyung’s offerings in the current landscape. Cica Labo’s focus on sensitive scalp care blends perfectly with this trend, emphasizing calming and moisturizing with its cica-based formulations.
Meanwhile, Alpist's vegan concept, based on natural-derived ingredients, targets the increasing consumer preference for cleaner beauty solutions that emphasize scalp balance. This dual positioning allows Aekyung to cater to a broad spectrum of consumer needs, enhancing its portfolio's relevance in the market.
This debut at Rossmann Poland is a significant step for Aekyung, as it aims to introduce its K-haircare portfolio in Europe, thereby expanding local consumer touchpoints. The entry of the Cica Labo and Alpist brands into a major European drugstore channel represents a critical first move, anticipated to serve as a springboard for future market expansion.
Following this initial launch, Aekyung plans to assess market performance and consumer reactions in Poland to expand its product range to include hair treatments, essences, and body care products. Additionally, the company is considering further expansion into neighboring countries such as Germany, the Czech Republic, and Hungary, targeting other major European drugstore and beauty channels.
An Aekyung representative stated, “Poland is a market where demand for functional haircare and vegan products is growing simultaneously. We are committed to enhancing the competitive edge of K-haircare brands in the global marketplace going forward.”
