CJ Olive Young Enhances Logistics Infrastructure in Jeju to Boost 'Today Delivery' Service

CJ Olive Young announced on the 6th that it is strengthening its logistics infrastructure in Jeju with the opening of a 515-pyeong (1,702㎡) Micro Fulfillment Center (MFC) in Aewol-eup, thereby enhancing shopping convenience for local residents. This investment is part of the company’s broader strategy to expand its non-metropolitan service offerings by increasing its operational capabilities beyond the Seoul area.

The MFC Jeju will enable CJ Olive Young to carry out 90% of online orders in the region through its ‘Today Delivery’ service. Previously reliant on offline stores, the company was limited to delivering to nearby areas. The new logistics hub allows for a greater reach across most locations in Jeju, significantly increasing the product assortment to 11,000 items as inventory can now be stored in the MFC.

This initiative alleviates the time and cost burdens on Jeju residents, who previously faced average delivery times exceeding three days along with additional fees of 2,500 KRW for island regions, regardless of the minimum order amount. With the new system in place, customers can expect to receive products ordered before 4 PM without additional island fees, enhancing their shopping experience and eliminating the wait associated with general deliveries.

CJ Olive Young’s substantial investment in Jeju’s logistics infrastructure aligns with its goal to deliver consistent shopping convenience nationwide. The ‘Today Delivery’ service, first launched in 2018, achieved 20 million deliveries across South Korea last year, establishing itself as a vital component of the company's service portfolio. However, despite high demand, Jeju's logistics constraints had previously limited service usage to just 150,000 annual orders.

In addition to the infrastructure improvements, CJ Olive Young has launched a dedicated ‘Jeju Today Delivery’ tab within its mobile app. This feature allows local residents to easily browse eligible products for same-day delivery and popular items specific to Jeju, thereby enhancing user engagement. To commemorate this introduction, a promotional discount coupon of 3,000 KRW is being offered for orders exceeding 15,000 KRW.

Looking ahead, CJ Olive Young plans to further enhance logistics capabilities in Jeju in line with increasing shipping volumes, with goals to expand product offerings to 16,000 items across the island. The company is also committed to retail investments aimed at supporting local economic growth, including potential specialized store openings and tourism initiatives.

We will continue to collaborate with the local community to improve shopping infrastructure and bolster investments in non-metropolitan areas,’ signaling an ongoing commitment to regional service enhancements.

In response to the boom in online orders during the pandemic since launching the Today Delivery service in 2018, CJ Olive Young decided to implement MFCs in urban areas starting in 2021. These centers serve as logistical hubs designed to expedite delivery of online orders to nearby customers. CJ Olive Young operates 25 MFCs nationwide, including the recently launched MFC Jeju, with plans for additional locations by July 2026 in cities like Busan, Gwangju, Gyeongju, Daejeon, and Jeonju.
