CJ Olive Young Introduces AI Shopping Assistant to Enhance Foreign Customer Experience
CJ Olive Young announced on the 8th that it will implement AI-based in-store services to augment shopping convenience for foreign customers, responding to the increasing global demand for K-beauty. This strategic initiative is particularly targeted at multi-level stores with a high percentage of foreign visitors and substantial shopping information needs.
The 'AI Shopping Assistant' allows customers to engage with an AI avatar via kiosks, facilitating a self-shopping experience without the need for staff assistance. This service provides product descriptions, stock inquiries, and store location confirmations, alongside personalized product recommendations tailored to individual skin characteristics and preferences—all in eight languages. Such capabilities serve to dismantle language barriers and enhance the overall customer experience.
Importantly, this initiative presents operational efficiencies as well. Customers can easily access information on payment methods or VAT refunds via touchscreen displays, allowing staff to concentrate on more complex consultations and enhanced customer service. A data-driven dashboard offers insights into customer dwell times and key inquiries, enabling store operations to be fine-tuned according to customer demands and preferences.
Beyond facilitating self-shopping, the AI Shopping Assistant will be complemented by an 'AI Interpretation Service,' also set to be gradually introduced across stores with a higher concentration of foreign visitors. This service enhances the accuracy and convenience of in-store translations, expanding the supported languages to 38, thereby accommodating a wider array of foreign customers.
Customers can now engage in real-time chats by scanning QR codes shown by staff or communicating verbally with employees via tablets equipped with microphones. The AI service is designed to accurately relay specialized terminology associated with K-beauty shopping, enabling customers to articulate their skincare issues in their native languages and receive detailed guidance on product ingredients and usage methods.
Previously, CJ Olive Young has steadily enhanced shopping convenience for foreign customers through multilingual guidance, global payment options, and portable translation devices. The introduction of AI-driven in-store services is expected to further eliminate language barriers throughout the entire shopping experience, from product exploration to consultation and payment.
A CJ Olive Young representative remarked, "With the rising popularity of K-beauty and an increasing number of foreign visitors, we will continuously enhance our AI-driven in-store services and expand them nationwide. Our goal is to establish an environment where global customers can experience K-beauty up close, without language barriers, solidifying our position as a global K-beauty hub."
