KTR Secures Patent for Global Warming Potential Measurement System
KTR (Korea Testing and Research Institute), led by Director Lee Seung-ryeol, has secured a domestic patent for its Global Warming Potential (GWP) measurement system.
The system was developed under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's project for the development of core technologies in carbon-neutral industries and material parts. Following the patent registration, KTR has initiated related testing and evaluation services.
This new measurement device allows simultaneous measurement of radiative efficiency and atmospheric lifespan, which were previously measured separately. As a result, the system minimizes individual measurement errors and increases the reliability of greenhouse gas verification.
Particularly in industries with high greenhouse gas usage, such as semiconductor and display manufacturing, this system enhances the ease of verifying the effectiveness of emission reduction, thus contributing to strengthening the competitiveness of related sectors.
KTR functions as a UN-designated greenhouse gas verification and certification body, as well as the first domestic testing institution for semiconductor greenhouse gas reduction efficiency and GWP assessment. It offers a range of carbon-neutral related verification services, including carbon footprint verification and ESG reporting.
Lee Seung-ryeol stated, “With this patent acquisition, we can further enhance the reliability of greenhouse gas reduction effects in core industries such as semiconductors. KTR will continue to strive to help domestic companies overcome carbon regulations.”
