In light of increasing economic cooperation between South Korea and Latin America, KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency), led by President Kang Kyung-sung, organized the promotional event "The K-Beauty Secret in Colombia 2026" on August 21 in Medellín. This event partnered with the local K-Beauty distributor CHOK CHOK SKIN.

Colombia, the fourth-largest economy in Latin America, recorded a K-Beauty export value of $7.8 million in 2025, up 48% from the previous year. Although the K-Beauty boom in Colombia commenced relatively later in 2023 compared to neighboring countries, the projected export figures demonstrate a robust market trend. KOTRA aims to leverage this momentum by promoting new K-Beauty brands and strengthening distribution networks with established local channels.

The market landscape in Colombia is still in its formative stages compared to Mexico and Brazil, yet there is a rapidly increasing demand for new brand imports and exclusive distribution contracts. This growth potential is further bolstered by Colombia's exceptional air logistics network, which facilitates rapid transportation of high-value products like beauty devices to nearby markets.

A total of 17 companies, including industry leaders such as APR, MUSINSA, and COSMAX, participated in the promotional event, which also garnered positive support from major Colombian distribution networks, including Grupo Exito and OLIMPICA, as well as over 30 beauty influencers.

To further the K-Beauty boom in Colombia, KOTRA will provide participating companies with consulting services for INVIMA certification and has collaborated with the Korea Export-Import Bank to promote a financing program valued at approximately $100 million. Following the event, online follow-up meetings between domestic companies and local distributors will be organized based on buyer feedback, along with continued collaboration with the Export-Import Bank to sustain export achievements.

The KOTRA Bogotá Trade Center aims to establish Colombia as a hub for K-Beauty expansion in Latin America through this inaugural promotional event. The initiative will diversify consumer goods marketing efforts in cooperation with local distribution networks and expand operational scale annually.

Director Sung Gi-joo of KOTRA Bogotá acknowledged that Colombia enjoys significant tariff benefits under the FTA with Korea, positioning the country as a viable hub for K-Beauty and K-consumer goods market entry into Latin America. He emphasized the agency's commitment to facilitating tailored packages through public institutional collaboration in certification and financial support, enabling South Korean firms to expand their export reach across Latin America.
