eBay Japan Targets ¥500 Billion in Transaction Volume within Three Years
eBay Japan, the operator of the online marketplace Qoo10.jp, has set an ambitious vision to achieve ¥500 billion (approximately 4.35 trillion KRW) in transaction volume within three years and to become the number one platform for the MZ generation in Japan.
On the 25th, eBay Japan hosted the ‘Qoo10 Seller Conference 2026’ at The Prince Park Tower Tokyo, revealing key business strategies. The conference targeted Japan-based sellers across all categories on Qoo10.jp, including beauty, fashion, food, living, and digital, with over 900 attendees, showcasing eBay Japan's enhanced standing in the market.
During the event, eBay Japan highlighted successful collaborations with Korean brands such as K-beauty, along with new beauty trends and seller support policies. The introduction of AI technology and online-to-offline (OMO) services were also part of their long-term strategy shared at the conference.
CEO Gu Ja-hyun emphasized during the presentation that they aim to achieve an annual transaction volume of ¥500 billion (approximately 4.35 trillion KRW) by leading consumption trends among young people in Japan. Given that the expected annual transaction volume for Qoo10.jp this year is approximately ¥350 billion (around 3.04 trillion KRW), this reflects a projection of over 40% growth within three years.
Qoo10.jp is positioned as a crucial hub for facilitating the entry of Korean products, including K-beauty, into Japan, establishing a solid win-win ecosystem. The participation and support from local sellers further enhance the feasibility of achieving these growth targets.
Evidence of this is apparent, as Qoo10.jp surpassed 30 million members by the first half of 2026, demonstrating explosive growth from around 10 million members in 2018, showing more than a threefold increase in about eight years. Qoo10.jp possesses impressive competitiveness as Japan’s leading beauty platform, with its K-beauty segment achieving an annual transaction volume of ¥150 billion (about 1.3 trillion KRW).
Future strategies also include strengthening AI utilization and integrating OMO marketing. eBay Japan plans to significantly expand offline spaces around Shibuya and Harajuku, where Japan's latest trends in fashion, beauty, and food converge, allowing customers to experience products and brands directly. They are set to introduce services such as ‘AI Purchase Assistant’ and ‘AI Product Reports’ to enhance shopping experiences leveraging their extensive customer review data.
Gu Ja-hyun stated, “Qoo10.jp has served as a gateway for Korean brands like K-beauty into Japan, achieving rapid growth in all metrics, including membership and transaction volume, while significantly enhancing its local standing. Going forward, we aim to build a virtuous cycle of growth by providing practical and innovative services in collaboration with domestic and international sellers, propelling Qoo10.jp to a ¥500 billion platform within three years.”
