Aestura, a brand under Amorepacific known for its expertise in dermatology, participated as an official sponsor at KDD 2026 (Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining), presenting its achievements in enhancing AI skin diagnosis services.

The event took place on the 11th at the Jeju International Convention Center, attracting approximately 3,500 AI experts and developers from key AI companies. During a special session, Aestura highlighted advancements made in AI skin diagnosis services, incorporating the diagnostic standards of dermatologists, and shared its vision for the future.

A joint presentation titled 'Dermatology, Decoded by AI: Integrating Dermatologist Expertise into Everyday Skincare' was conducted by Professor Kim Hye-sung from the Department of Dermatology at Incheon St. Mary's Hospital and Aestura's head engineer Ahn Jong-hoon. Professor Kim introduced enhanced AI engine examples that apply real dermatological diagnosis criteria, enabling precise diagnosis across 33 categories, expanding beyond traditional skin assessments.

Based on approximately 750 patient datasets and 1,000 datasets from Amorepacific’s clinical lab, the research team conducted direct labeling and de-identification, creating an AI training dataset. This effort has significantly broadened diagnostic capabilities, now including 29 additional skin conditions alongside the existing assessments of pores, wrinkles, redness, and hyperpigmentation.

Ahn Jong-hoon underscored that both beauty and dermatology share the common goal of promoting 'healthy skin' and presented AI as a key technology to bridge the two fields. He also outlined Aestura’s long-term AI technology roadmap aimed at enhancing skin diagnosis and providing personalized skincare experiences.

Aestura plans to continue enhancing the accuracy of its AI skin diagnosis services by employing Federated Learning technology for advanced clinical big data training based on real patients. This strategy aims to create an environment where consumers can experience precise AI skin diagnosis feedback, reflecting the expertise of dermatologists in their daily routines.

An Aestura representative stated, 'This project is significant as it lays the foundation for an AI skin diagnosis service that integrates dermatologists' expertise into everyday skincare assessments. We remain committed to innovating by melding AI technology with dermatological research, thereby offering consumers more reliable skin solutions.'
