cepoLAB, a premium bio-skincare brand, is set to officially target the U.S. market with its entry into approximately 250 Costco locations nationwide in November.

Managed by FugenBio, a bio-healthcare company specializing in anti-aging solutions, cepoLAB is taking an unusual step by simultaneously launching in numerous large-scale stores across the U.S. rather than following the common procedure of validating market potential through online platforms or a limited number of test stores. Costco's acceptance of cepoLAB as a competitive premium K-beauty brand signifies a remarkable endorsement.

cepoLAB's signature product, the Biogenic Essence, has achieved significant sales success, with cumulative sales surpassing 8 million bottles and total revenue exceeding 200 billion KRW this year, establishing it as a leading product in South Korea's premium skincare market.

cepoLAB views Costco not just as a sales channel, but as a strategic foothold for penetrating the U.S. market. The core clientele of Costco, predominantly women aged 40 to 50, aligns with cepoLAB’s target demographic, thereby heightening the expectations for successful sales. This target group is characterized by sensitivity to skincare product selection and above-average income levels. With a price point of 129,000 KRW for a 155ml unit, and about 90% of customers being in their 40s, the brand's strong customer loyalty is evidenced by a repurchase rate of 52%, suggesting a positive outlook for sales at Costco.

The core competitive advantage of cepoLAB lies in FugenBio's proprietary CLEPS® Biosynthesis platform. This unique skincare solution utilizes the bioactive substance Cleps to enhance cellular glucose consumption, subsequently inhibiting the production of Advanced Glycation End-products (AGEs) while improving various skin indicators such as elasticity, hydration, texture, tone, and firmness. These benefits have been scientifically validated through publication in the esteemed journal Cosmetics.

Building on its successes at Costco, cepoLAB plans to roll out comprehensive brand marketing across the U.S. starting next year. The brand's strategy is uniquely differentiated from existing K-beauty players, as it targets high-income middle-aged consumers aged 40 and above, focusing on the premium skincare market rather than competing primarily on price with younger consumer segments. To achieve this, cepoLAB will implement local PR and digital marketing initiatives, collaborate with influencers and experts, and aggressively pursue premium distribution channels including department stores, high-end retailers, aesthetics, medical spas, and dermatology clinics.

Prior to its entry at Costco, cepoLAB established connections at the recent Cosmoprof North America Las Vegas, the largest beauty trade show in North America, where key discussions regarding entry into various premium distribution channels were held with numerous U.S. and global buyers. There was notable interest in cepoLAB’s unique bio-technical capabilities and brand philosophy.

Kim Yoon-soo, the CEO of FugenBio, expressed confidence that cepoLAB will create a strong competitive edge in the U.S. premium skincare market, which values ingredient transparency, scientific basis, and functionality. He stated, "Through large-scale brand marketing across the entire U.S. starting next year, we aim to establish a new model of success for premium K-bio beauty in the global market."
